Well - I gotta tell you this was one great weekend for CLCG even if the weather didn't cooperate on Sunday. I think it was Karen Wallace who said she found it hard to believe she was putting sun screen on the day before and today she had to wear 5-layers of clothing to keep warm. Anyway - after the Budweiser experience and some fun wearing the rubber off our tires - I came home a little exhausted but darn proud of CLCG.

I also feel the need to recognize Al Hemstreet for his driving prowess. Not only did he have the fastest Vette/Driver combination in A-Stock, he earned a new nickname - for his absolutely perfect rendition of a donut! The Porsche guys were in awe and naturally - we told them that was how he always drives! All kidding aside, of the club cars, Al had us covered by 4-seconds (do you think he's done this before??). Of course - the rest of us were using traction control and even started in 3rd gear once just to help him out! (I now know what a burning Z06 clutch smells like!) In the end though - Al took home another trophy to go with the one he won last year. Our fastest times were: Al with a 73, me with a 77 and Allan Trumbull with a 79 second run. The fastest run of the day was turned in by a Miata at 67 seconds. If you want to find the limits of your car and driving ability - this is the place to do it - legally. We hope more of you will join us next time. By the way - the fastest Vette at the autocross was a C-5 Z06 with racing tires and a great driver. He was in at 71 seconds!
Thanks also to Roger White, Steve Albritton, Cliff Dube, Al Hemstreet and the Moses for helping set up the course yesterday evening and all the members who brought their cars to the corral.
We also gained two new members. One of them had a Lingenfelter built C6 (383) pushing 525hp but he too overpowered the course at times. He's now in the process of buying his dad's C6 Z06 while his dad is #14 on the ZR1 waiting list!

About the pictures - You know Al never misses a chance to polish his tailpipes - this time at the Cherry Blossom airport event; and - some men have no shame - they wear pink and make women hold their umbrella! Need I say more??

I also need to send a special THANK YOU to Frank Shaffer for his efforts on setting up our club's participation in the Cherry Blossom air show.

Boy Frank - getting Budweiser to bring the Clydesdales in just for us was way over the top!
Great Job Frank! Thanks!
